3,951 of you will determine the fate of the City. Sounds like a heavy responsibility doesn’t it? It is. That’s the total number of registered voters with the City of Frankenmuth. As of 4 pm November 5 – which is the last time you can apply for an absentee ballot – the City of Frankenmuth had issued 1,237. We are awaiting the return of 103 AV ballots.
That’s about a 31% voter turn out. NOW. Without the polls officially being open. Tomorrow the weather will be horrid. Rainy. Windy. In some places that would be enough to deter voters. I’m confident that Frankenmuth once again will have the stellar turn out that we usually have – if not greater. ‘Muth residents take their civic responsibility seriously and we are all better for it.
Speaking of civic responsibility, now is a good time to thank all the candidates. Running for office requires a commitment that not many people are willing to make. Regardless of the outcome we are a better community because so many talented people stand ready to serve.
Polls are open from 7 am to 8 pm. If you can, try to avoid between 7 am and 9 am – it’s busy. Same from 4 pm to 7 pm. Other tips – please do not wear any campaign buttons, hats, giant foam fingers, etc. You will be asked to cover them up or take them off.
