das Dorfleben: living the village life
I have had the pleasure of being the City Manager for about two years. It has been a wonderful experience to date. I am consistently impressed and in awe of the volume of work and the complexity of projects that the City undertakes and is involved with.
The impetus for this method of communication – and the title – came from a conversation I had with Ionela Bauer. We were talking and discussing just how unique Frankenmuth is and I asked how would you phrase that in German – how would you best translate what Frankenmuth is? Her response was, “das Dorfleben” was the closest she could get. It means something equivalent to “living the village life.”
Even though I graduated high school here and have lived here well over 30 years, I’m still amazed at what we do, how we do it and the capacity that we have as a city, as residents and as businesses.
With that in mind, this blog is designed to help provide more in depth explanations and information than we could typically provide. As always, our doors are open during normal working hours and we welcome you to stop in if you have questions or concerns. You can also feel free to email me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
